Work Ethic Part 2

So I have 2 at #4 and I chose these because it goes back to beating on your craft, taking all the little steps that become the one big step. Or in other words taking all the shots till you hit the big shot. It all boils down to dedication, commitment and persistence

4. “Think not of yourself as the architect of your career but as the sculptor. Expect to have to do a lot of hard hammering and chiseling and scraping and polishing.” ~ B.C. Forbes

Tied for # 4. “Every time you stay out late; every time you sleep in; every time you miss a workout; every time you don’t give 100% – You make it that much easier for me tobeat you.”

~ Unknown

Whenever I find myself wanting to sleep in, skip a workout, or turn down the intensity… I think of this quote.  And it’s this quote that almost always pushes me through.  When you’re in competition mode you have to go above and beyond what your competition is doing.  It’s the logic of winning.  And as far as I know, when I’m sitting there feeling lazy and wanting to quit, my opponent has already finished their workout… PLUS SOME!

I have to step my game up and separate myself from my opponent, because I know that there are days when they feel lazy too… And I’m always gonna bet that they sucked it up and did it anyway.  Winning comes down to the daily choices we make.  Whoever chooses to put in more quality hours of deliberate practice prior to their performances is gonna have the edge.  Because with hours of quality practice comes confidence and precision.  And when you’re seeking to perform at your maximal potential, confidence and precision are absolutely key.

Taking a day off simply isn’t an option.  Well practiced, confident people are harder to beat than talented, lazy people.  Be hard to beat.

# 3 relates to just working hard. not working hard, but working HARD. lol I believe that when your the hardest working guy there, then you are dedicating yourself to your craft, your artistry. It goes down to just being the greatest and at the same time, inspiring others to be great as well.

3.  “Talent is never enough. With few exceptions the best players are the hardest workers.” ~ Magic Johnson

Tied for # 3. “Sheer effort enables those with nothing to surpass those with priviledge and position.” ~ Toyotomi Hideyoshi

2.  “I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.’” ~ Muhammad Ali

So this second quote which is tied for # 2 is all about eating properly. I mean this site does have the word “workout” in it. So I had to do it justice and pay homage to eating healthy as it is part of the holistic picture in working out and achieving our target goal weight etc. So without further adieu.

Tied for # 2. “Every living cell in your body is made from the food you eat.  If you consistentlyeat junk food then you’ll have a junk body.”

~ Jeanette Jenkins

Your body right now is a reflection of the choices you have made up to this point. Want a better body? You’re going to have to start making better choices.

We all know what those better choices are. The hard part is taking the proper action and maintaining discipline to follow through with them.

One suggestion that has had positive results in my life and the lives of other people I have tried this with is to choose just one healthy thing that you could change in your lifestyle and focus solely on that for the next 30 days.

The first change I ever made? Drinking water instead of juice, pop, or sports drinks. It became a habit. Second change I made? Drink coffee black instead of with cream and sugar. It became a habit. Third change I made? Don’t eat donuts – avoid them at all costs. It became a habit. One of my most recent changes? Do 10 minutes of stretching every morning right when I get out of bed.  It’s becoming a habit.

This one comes from none other then Joe Frazier. I thought this quote is number 1 because it exemplifies what hard work and work ethic is all about. It’s about being ready at all times, protect yourself at all times, being ready in the dark or in the bright lights. It’s about bringing it every day, in the rain or in the snow. It’s about being able to dance anytime or on the grandest stage of em all. Ok enough talking. Without further adieu….. #1

1.  “You can map out a fight plan or a life plan, but when the action starts, it may not go the way you planned, and you’re down to your reflexes – your training. That’s where your roadwork shows. If you cheated on that in the dark of morning, you’re getting found out now, under the bright lights.” ~ Joe Frazier
